BLACK FOOD SOVEREIGNTY AND THE HOLISTIC PRACTICE OF LAND JUSTICE

Dr. Shakara Tyler of the Detroit Black Community Food Security Network and Detroit Black Farmer Land Fund delves into land justice as a holistic practice that gets at the core of social injustice from an ecological and spiritual lens. Using these examples of Black food sovereignty, she will explore the historical and current contexts of land justice, and how communities have resisted oppression using grassroots self-determination and cooperative economic strategies.
